The YMCA Youth Sports Program is designed to help children not only become skilled athletes but also grow as individuals. It’s a dynamic, age-specific program that ensures every child has the opportunity to play in a safe, exciting, and fun environment. We promote fair play, healthy competition, and encourage family participation in the process.
How are the coaches selected?
Great question! All of our coaches are dedicated volunteers. Some are YMCA staff members, others are parents who help coach their children’s teams, and many are community members who share our Y values. To ensure your child’s safety, every coach undergoes a background check and drug testing.
How often do teams practice?
Teams typically practice once or twice a week, with sessions lasting around one hour. We understand life can be busy, so we keep practices brief and effective. To help make your experience the best it can be, we provide coaches with resources and support throughout the season.
Can I stay and watch practice?
Of course! We highly encourage family involvement. In fact, our teams are always looking for Assistant Coaches. If you’re interested in helping out, we’d love to have you!
