Thank you for volunteering to coach in our Youth Sports Programs. Our Youth Sports Programs make one of the largest impacts within our Youth Development initiative, and we are excited that you will be a part of that impact!

The Y is heavily dependent on volunteers, and we can’t thank you enough for the impact that you will have on our youth. Our volunteers will make a difference in each player’s experience, the impact that will be made, and the lessons that will be learned.

If you are interested in coaching and not yet registered, get started today by emailing [email protected]

There are two things that we would like for you to keep in mind as you go through this journey as a volunteer coach for the YMCA:

Please always keep the mission of the Y at the forefront of your coaching: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

Our four core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility

One of the primary jobs of a youth sports coach is keeping athletes safe. CDC Heads Up Concussion has information to help you protect athletes from concussions or other serious brain injury, learn how to spot a concussion, and know what to do if a concussion occurs.

We know coaching sports is more than teaching basic skills and fundamentals. It includes learning movements, working with a team, and much more! We hope you’ll enjoy some of these practice ideas we’ve put together to help you with some basics.

To bring additional materials to our families, the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis has partnered with the American Dairy Association of Indiana. They have provided an easy nutrition lesson plan with handouts to help us make a larger positive impact on the lifestyles of the families we serve.
