Thank you for volunteering to coach in our Youth Sports Programs. Our Youth Sports Programs make one of the largest impacts within our Youth Development initiative and we are excited that you will be a part of that impact!

The Y is heavily dependent on volunteers and we can’t thank you enough for the impact that you will have on our youth. It’s our volunteers who will make the difference in the experience that each player has, the impact that will be made, and the lessons that will be learned.

There are two things that we would like for you to keep in mind as you go through this journey as a volunteer coach for the YMCA:

1. Please always keep the mission of the Y at the forefront of your coaching: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

2. Our four core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility

One of the main jobs of a youth sports coach is keeping athletes safe. This sheet has information to help you protect athletes from concussions or another serious brain injury, learn how to spot a concussion, and know what to do if a concussion occurs.

We know coaching sports is more than teaching basic skills and fundamentals, it includes learning movements, working with a team, and so much more! We hope you’ll enjoy some of these blogs we’ve put together to help you with some of the basics.
