Registration is OPEN Join the Y for the winter pre-season of basketball! We will be running a basketball clinic on Saturday 1/10 in Eugene area gyms to build skills for the upcoming YMCA winter basketball season. Rookies Basketball Clinic (Kinder/1st Graders) Registration is OPEN Join us as we dive into the world of Rookies basketball! This clinic is twice a week for 2 weeks. You can choose 5pm-545pm or 6pm-645pm. Tuesdays- 12/9 and 12/16 Thursdays- 12/11 and 12/18 We will start with warm-ups and basketball terminology as well as beginner skills in listening and following physical instructions. At the Y we believe in education through play and games. We will introduce scrimmages after week 1. Player safety is our top priority. We strongly recommend bringing water for your child to stay hydrated. The sessions will be staff-lead; however, we encourage parents to actively participate in their child's sporting journey by volunteering. This age is a great chance to get involved with your child's sports. This program largely focuses on social/emotional development, community building for young families, and basic skill building. Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to get your young child(ren) involved in becoming active, making new friends, and have a blast on the court. In Aikido, kids learn to move with control, think with clarity, and respond with respect. Each class builds coordination, discipline, and self-confidence, skills that reach far beyond the mat. Youth can join any time of year, with monthly registration. New students should observe one class before starting, and parents or guardians are welcome to watch the first class.
