FAQs
How are the coaches picked?
All of our fantastic coaches are volunteers! Some are YMCA staff members, others are parents coaching their children, and many are local community members, family members, or college students who share our Y values.
Your child’s safety is our top priority. That’s why every coach is required to complete both concussion awareness and child abuse prevention training before the season begins.
We’re incredibly grateful for their time, energy, and commitment to making youth sports a safe and positive experience for all.
Can I stay and watch practice?
Absolutely! Our teams are always looking for Assistant Coaches—no experience needed, just a positive attitude and willingness to help. Not ready to coach? Parents can also volunteer to create a snack schedule or serve as a backup if the coach needs to miss a practice or game.
Volunteering is a great way to support your child and our Y community!
