FAQs

How are the coaches picked?

GREAT QUESTION!! All of our coaches are volunteers, usually parents of children in the program. ALL of our coaches go through a background check as well training that are required to be done before they can start coaching.Your child’s safety is our #1 priority.

How often is practice?

We require the first couple weeks of the program as full hour long practices (you can get specifics either on the schedule or by asking your coach). Once the games start each division will have a 20 to 30 minute practice before their game starts. Our goal is to teach the children skills not just play games.

What equipment will my child need?

Equipment depends on the sport. For every sport you need your jersey. For soccer you need shin guards and sneakers or cleats (rubber only). For basketball you only need sneakers.

When will we get our jerseys?

All players need to have both a red and a black jersey. When you registered you should have paid for your jerseys (if you don’t have ones from a previous season to use). These will be handed out on the field before your child’s first game.

If you need a jerseys but did not pay for them when you registered, please come in to the Y and purchase them as soon as you can. We will be ordering the jerseys by the second week of the season so please make sure yours are ordered before then.

Helpful Tips

Here are some helpful tips to ensure you have a great season!

  1. Save the Coaches contact information and give them yours.
  2. Sign up for Weather and Emergency Text Alerts – We want to get you the right information at the right time. This is a great resource to help in that communication.
  3. Make sure your athlete has the equipment they need.
  4. Be on time – We want to honor your time and effort by providing the best quality sports experience we can, we need your help though. By showing up on time, ready to play, for practices and games it makes a world of difference. Picking up your athlete on time is a huge help to our coaches too. We understand that can’t happen every time. When those situations occur the best thing to do is notify the Coach via phone call or text.
  5. Make it FUN!! At the Y we encourage fair play, positive competition and family involvement. Every child gets to play so make sure to cheer loud!! (For both teams!)
