Day/Time/Location:

Division 1 will meet at Fritz Huntsinger Park every Saturday from 2/8 – 3/22 from 9:30am – 11:30am

Clinic-Style

What will each week look like?

The league consists of one meeting day per week. Skill drills and scrimmage will be incorporated into a 2 hour window on Saturdays, 9:30am – 11:30am.

For the first hour, a team of 3-4 coaches will be working with the entire group, typically in drill stations. The second hour, the kids are divided into two teams, and a full game is played. Teams are not set in stone, so that players can be shuffled the first couple of weeks in order to ensure teams are fair, and kids get a chance to play with a variety of teammates. No official score is kept during the games.

Why clinic-style?

The goal is to give the kids the opportunity to build their skills and have a blast playing the sport without focusing on wins/losses, records, etc. There is still the competitive aspect during the scrimmage each week; however, shuffling the teams helps kids learn sportsmanship because their opponent one weekend could be their teammate the next. This is similar to adult pick-up sports, and helps kids build a healthy relationship with competition.

YMCA Leagues are all about fun! As parents, remember to stay positive, encouraging, and courteous to all.
