8 & 9 Age Group

• Score will not be kept and there will be no standings. Everyone is a winner!
• All players must play at least half of the time during game play (exceptions include injuries, and player refusal, which is common in the younger age groups).
• Coaches are NOT ALLOWED on the field during game play, but may walk up and down the sideline to help instruct.
• Coaches must remain on team designated sideline, gameplay will be stopped and rule enforced this is not followed.

Game Play:

• Games will consist of four 10-minute quarters.
• A 10 v 10 format will be used. (If rosters are small, teams may play with less).
• A goalie will be used in this age group. The YMCA is responsible for providing a jersey that is a different color than theirs and the opposing team.
• No player may play goalie for more than half of the game
• Half time will be no more than 5 minutes
• Quarter breaks will only last long enough to substitute and rotate players in and out.
• All free kicks will be indirect.
• On a goal kick, the opposing team must retreat ten (10) yards back from the goal box.
• First 4 Games – Illegal throw-ins will be corrected on first violation. If the throw-in is illegal on the second try, it will result in a throw-in for the other team.
• Beyond first 4 Games – Illegal throw-ins will result in a throw-in for the other team.
• The offside rule will NOT be in effect UNTIL the last 4 games of the season.
